Fossil specimens are referenced by a catalogue number unique to each of the four collections.
An acronym has been applied to each catalogue number to designate which collection the specimen is from.
FI for Fossil Invertebrates, including Plants.
FF for Fossil Fish/Sharks.
FR for Fossil Amphibians, Reptiles, Dinosaurus and Birds.
FM for Fossil Mammals.
For example a specimen listed as AMNH 666 can be found using the following search: |
