About this website
This website was designed and built by Chris Norris in 2006. It incorporates elements from an earlier Paleontology website developed by Benjamin Burger (former Director of IT and Network Systems for Paleontology). The site acts as a portal to the Division's PaleoCat database system. The database contains over 193,000 specimen records and around 9,500 specimen images.
Use of data and images
Catalogue data and images retrieved from the database system are intended for educational and scholarly use only, and may not be used for any commercial purposes without prior consent from the American Museum of Natural History. Please note that electronic collections data are only proxies for the actual specimens, and although the specimen database is regularly checking for discrepancies, there is no guarantee of its accuracy. Please see this webpage if you wish to publish material obtained from this system. If you notice an error or omission please contact the webmaster.
